Happy Haunting!

I have yet to take pictures of my loot from Rhinebeck, so I've been putting off posting. But I couldn't resist a Halloween post. It starts with an appropriately bloody sky... Shhhh. No screaming. You're in the quiet car! Here's a rusty little pumpkin to cheer you up. Happy Haunting!

Rhinebeck Ahoy!

It's hard not to use religious metaphors when talking about the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival . If you're a fiber enthusiast, the third weekend in October is a High Holiday. The weather is (usually) crisp and the leaves are spectacular. The air is filled with the sounds of sheep bleating and dogs barking and old friends meeting again. Shrieks of children having a great time and grown-ups finding that thing, that special, special thing that they've been wanting all year. Or discovering something they didn't know they'd been wanting. Or many things. It's hard not to go a little crazy. But what makes it so special to me, is that the entire place is filled with people who love what they do. Really love it. Some are making a living at it and others are helping them do that. I'm bringing the fiber to Main Street! My scarves and mittens are going to be carried at Cherry Bomb , a holiday pop-up shop in Beacon. I'm even going to be a featured artist. I am so excited! There are going to be a lot of very beautiful things at the shop this year. Jewelry and pottery and photographs and all kinds of unusual gifts. This is Cherry Bomb's third year (I think), and every year the artists get more diverse, innovative, just really interesting. I can't express how proud I am to be part of it.  Or how much fun I've had all year, listening to yarn express what it wants to be. If you're in the area, please come by and take a look.
